Dan Sterling’s comedy writing career began on the first season of Comedy Central’s South Park, on which he served as a staff writer and wrote several episodes. Following South Park, he spent four seasons rising through the ranks of writer and producer at FOX’s hit animated series King of the Hill. Sterling’s first job as showrunner was Comedy Central’s The Sarah Silverman Program, on which he spent three seasons. His next showrunning assignment was the final season of hit series The Office. Sterling also has served as a writer-producer on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, consulting producer on Girls, for which he received a Writers Guild Award, and streaming variety program I Love You, America, created and hosted by Sarah Silverman.

In 2014, Sterling’s first produced feature film, The Interview, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, provoked a cyber-attack on Sony, believed to have been perpetrated by North Korean hackers. His next feature, the romantic comedy Long Shot, starring Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen, was set in high stakes global politics, but happily provoked no international incidents. Recently Sterling adapted for screen the book Trumped! The Inside Story of the Real Donald Trump - His Cunning Rise and Spectacular Fall (now titled The Drop), by Jack O’Donnell, who served as a top casino executive for Trump in the 1980’s.
