Jon Cowan has been a writer/showrunner in demand at multiple studios, with overall deals at SONY, 20th Century Fox, and NBC Universal. He most recently Co-Executive Produced “Panhandle” and before that Co-Executive Produced “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt For The Bone Collector.” Over the past few years, Cowan has written pilots for multiple streaming, cable and broadcast networks and was Exec Producer/Showrunner on the broadcast pilot “Runner.”. Prior to that, he spent three seasons as an Executive Producer/Writer on “Suits” working closely with a first time series creator. That followed a season as Co-Exec Producer on Noah Hawley’s series “My Generation.” 

 

Before that, along with his former writing partner Robert Rovner, Cowan served as Executive Producer/Showrunner on the series “Private Practice” and “Crossing Jordan.” Other writing and producing credits include “Bionic Woman,” “The Lyon’s Den” and “American Dreams.” He Executive Produced the Wonderful World of Disney movie “Princess of Thieves,” starring Keira Knightley, and the highly-rated “Take Me Home: The John Denver Story.” In total, Cowan co-produced over 20 movies for television, including the acclaimed “Riot.” In addition, he has written features for MGM and Endgame Entertainment, and multiple television movies and pilots for various networks. Cowan received his MFA in Playwriting from UCLA. His first novel, “Proof,” will be published by Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster in Spring 2025, part of a two book deal.
