Midseason Launches of 9-1-1, THE RESIDENT, LA TO VEGAS

and THE FOUR: BATTLE FOR STARDOM Propel Network to #1 Among Key Demos

FOX has kicked off 2018 as the #1 network among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens. Driven by the midseason launches of new series 9-1-1, THE RESIDENT, LA TO VEGAS and THE FOUR: BATTLE FOR STARDOM, FOX ranks #1 (2.3/8) among Adults 18-49 in most current data for the month of January and is the only major network to increase (+15%) from the same period last year.  Season-to-date (9/25/17-1/21/18), FOX ranks #2, averaging a 1.9/7 in the demo.

FOX has four of the Top Five new dramas of the 2017-18 season: 9-1-1 (3.0/11 L7), THE RESIDENT (2.6/9 L7), THE ORVILLE (2.3/8 L7) and THE GIFTED (2.0/7 L7).  In addition, the network claims two of the season’s Top Three new comedies: #2 GHOSTED (1.6/5 L7) and #3 LA TO VEGAS (1.5/6 L7).  Across social media, unscripted hit THE FOUR: BATTLE FOR STARDOM ranks as the #1 social new TV series this season.   

FOX midseason premiere highlights include:

  • 9-1-1 has been Wednesday’s #1 show for four consecutive weeks.  It premiered to a 3.0/11 in L7 A18-49, as well as grew to 14.7 million viewers in 7-Day multi-platform viewing (including its encore). Already renewed for a second season, 9-1-1 averages a 3.0/11 in L7 A18-49 and 12.6 million in Total Multi-Platform, a lift of +103% from L+SD. Season-to-date in L7, 9-1-1 ranks as the #1 drama on Wednesdays (tied with EMPIRE). From Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, 9-1-1 stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Connie Britton, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Rockmond Dunbar.  An all-new episode of 9-1-1 airs Wednesday, Feb. 7 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

  • THE RESIDENT’s series premiere on Sunday, Jan. 21, posted a 3.4/12 L7 and ranked as #1 entertainment program of the night.  Its debut reached a multi-platform average audience of 12.4 million viewers and, including its encore, 14.8 million viewers. THE RESIDENT’s Monday, Jan. 22, time period premiere delivered a 1.8/6 L7, ranking as the night’s #2 drama (up +20% from its LUCIFER lead-in) and a 7-day Total Multi-Platform Average Audience of 8.3 million viewers. Starring Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, Moran Atias, Merrin Dungey, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Melina Kanakaredes and Bruce Greenwood, THE RESIDENT is executive-produced by Amy Holden Jones, Antoine Fuqua, David Boorstein, Oly Obst, Todd Harthan and Phillip Noyce.  An all-new episode of THE RESIDENT airs Monday, Feb. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

  • THE FOUR: BATTLE FOR STARDOM delivered FOX’s best in-season unscripted launch in nearly four years (1.3/5 L7). It is the #1 social new series this season. In Week Four, it posted a season-high 1.4/5 L3, up +8% from premiere, and 4.4 million viewers, +5%.  It’s averaging a 1.3/5 in L7 A18-49 and delivers 4.5 million Total Multi-Platform viewers, a +27% lift from L+SD. THE FOUR: BATTLE FOR STARDOM features panelists Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and Meghan Trainor, as well as host Fergie. The season finale of THE FOUR: BATTLE FOR STARDOM airs Thursday, Feb. 8 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

•    LA TO VEGAS posted a 1.7/6 L7 in its premiere -- FOX’s highest rating for a Tuesday comedy telecast in nearly a year. LA TO VEGAS averages a 1.5/6 in L7 A18-49 and 5.7 million in Total Multi-Platform, a +85% lift from L+SD. LA TO VEGAS stars Dylan McDermott, Kim Matula, Ed Weeks, Nathan Lee Graham, Olivia Macklin and Peter Stormare, and is from executive producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Lon Zimmet and Steve Levitan.  An all-new episode of LA TO VEGAS airs Tuesday, Feb. 6 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

•    FOX SUNDAY: FOX has posted Sunday’s top seven highest-rated scripted telecasts in January, including: THE SIMPSONS (1/14/18: 3.5/12 L7); THE RESIDENT (1/21/18: 3.4/12 L7); THE SIMPSONS (1/7/18: 3.1/10 L7); BOB’S BURGERS (1/14/18: 2.6/9 L7); FAMILY GUY (1/14/18: 2.2/8 L7; FAMILY GUY (1/7/18: 2.2/7 L7); and GHOSTED (1/7/18: 1.9/6 L7).  

  • On Sunday, Jan. 14, BOB’S BURGERS (2.6/9 L7) delivered its highest ratings in over four years and posted an impressive +44% increase from its last original (1.8/6 L7, 12/10/17).  Both THE SIMPSONS (3.5/12 L7) and THE LAST MAN ON EARTH (1.6/6 L7) delivered their highest ratings in over a year and FAMILY GUY (2.2/8 L7) matched its season high.

    •    LETHAL WEAPON, averaging a 1.7/7 L7 and 8.5 million multi-platform viewers (+103% vs. L+SD), posted a season high 1.8/7 L7 rating in its Jan. 15 telecast. Starring Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, the series is executive-produced by Matt Miller, Dan Lin, Jennifer Gwartz and McG.  An all-new episode of LETHAL WEAPON airs Tuesday, Feb. 6 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
