Joy Gregory is a writer/producer for series television, feature films and theater. She served as executive producer of the hit drama “Madam Secretary” for its six-season run. Other series credits include “Joan of Arcadia” (Emmy-nominated, Best Drama), “Switched At Birth” (Peabody Award winner), “Jericho,” “Swingtown” and “Felicity,” with Matt Reeves and J.J. Abrams. She has developed pilots for multiple broadcast and cable networks and is currently developing a pilot with musical act The Chainsmokers and Stampede Productions. Gregory has been honored with three nominations for the Humanitas Award for episodes of “Joan of Arcadia” and “Madam Secretary.” Her feature film adaptation of her original stage musical, based on 1960s cult band The Shaggs, is in development with director Ken Kwapis; and another feature script, “Bury the Lede,” is in development with Phoebe Dynevor of “Bridgerton” attached to star and Tony Award-winning “Steppenwolf” director Anna Shapiro attached to direct.

Gregory is a founding member of Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre Company, recipient of the 2011 Tony Award for Excellence in Regional Theater, now in its 31st season. Her previous plays include original musical “The Shaggs: Philosophy of the World,” at Playwrights Horizons (nominated for a Drama Critics Circle Award and Lucile Lortel Award for Book and Lyrics of a Musical), and an adaptation of Studs Terkel’s “Race: How Blacks and Whites Think & Feel About the American Obsession,” with the Lookingglass Theatre Company, directed by fellow ensemble member David Schwimmer.
