“Miss Masky,” THE MASKED SINGER’s first NFT of FOX’s hit singing competition’s digital mascot, sold out in less than ten hours shortly after yesterday’s launch of “The MaskVerse,” FOX Entertainment and Blockchain Creative Labs’ NFT marketplace and community for television’s #1 entertainment series.

Fans claimed 10,000 free Genesis Edition “Miss Masky” NFTs from “The MaskVerse” between 2:30 PM PT and midnight yesterday.  A total of 12,000 digital wallets have been registered on the site thus far.  In response to users’ increased demand, Blockchain Creative Labs will unveil a second edition of 10,000 “Miss Masky” NFTs at www.maskverse.com at 4:00 PM ET/1:00 PM PT today.

An introductory video about “Miss Masky” and “The MaskVerse” can be found here.

Marking broadcast’s first major NFT endeavor and powered by Eluvio’s eco-friendly blockchain, “The MaskVerse” is designed to make buying, selling and trading of THE MASKED SINGER NFTs more accessible and intuitive to mainstream consumers, while adhering to technical principles important to crypto enthusiasts.  The exclusive NFT destination allows fans to build their own collections of limited-edition digital masks for every character from all six seasons of the series to unlock surprises and exclusive giveaways.

On Wednesday, Oct. 20, “The MaskeVerse” will unlock its primary sales marketplace and “drop” a limited-edition run of THE MASKED SINGER character NFTs in Mask Packs of three tokens that will be available to purchase for $20.  Beginning Wednesday, “The MaskVerse” participants also will be able to participate in exclusive Discord communities that will be managed via token-gate access by Blockchain Creative Labs’ community partner, Collab.Land.

All-new episodes of THE MASKED SINGER air Wednesdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX and, after their linear telecasts, become available on Hulu, VOD and FOX Entertainment’s free streaming service, Tubi.

Throughout this season, “The MaskVerse” will continue to “drop” Mask Packs and unlock a marketplace for fans themselves to purchase and sell NFTs to complete their sets, as well as additional premium and unique digital merchandise.  Starting next month, fans and collectors also will be able to play a voting game, to correctly predict which characters will be eliminated in each of the season’s final six episodes, to win the opportunity to buy Gold Mask packs that, when they complete a full collection, will have access to exclusive prizes and gain status.

To participate in “The MaskVerse’s” NFT drops, fans must create a secure and easy-to-use digital media wallet, through Eluvio, that acts as a digital vault and enables collectors to seamlessly purchase NFTs via credit cards or cryptocurrencies. It will also allow fans to trade or resell their tokens within “The “MaskVerse’s” virtual marketplace to build full collections and transfer NFTs to third-party wallets that are interoperable with Ethereum standards.

In May, FOX Entertainment and Bento Box Entertainment entered the NFT business with the formation of Blockchain Creative Labs and a $100 million creator fund to identify growth opportunities in the space.  In addition to “The MaskVerse,” Blockchain Creative Labs will launch a dedicated digital marketplace for Emmy Award-winning creator Dan Harmon’s upcoming animated comedy, KRAPOPOLIS, marking the first animated series to be curated entirely on the blockchain.

Last month, FOX made a strategic investment in Eluvio to accelerate the adoption of Eluvio’s blockchain platform across the broader media and entertainment industry and provide the underlying technology platform for Blockchain Creative Labs.  Launched in 2019, Eluvio is led by Emmy Award-winning technologists Michelle Munson and Serban Simu, and the company’s Eluvio Content Fabric is an advanced, open protocol blockchain network that provides live and file-based content publishing, transcoding, packaging, sequencing, dynamic and static distribution, and minting of derivative NFTs. Blockchain Creative Labs also selected Eluvio for its low environmental impact. Through a novel compositional and just-in-time protocol, the Eluvio Content Fabric does not make file copies and dramatically reduces the storage, network requirements, and latencies of traditional digital distribution systems; the Fabric's blockchain avoids the computational energy consumption, and costs, of proof-of-work blockchains through its efficient proof-of-authority consensus and seamless combination of on and off chain transactions. For “The MaskVerse,” all the creative content, NFTs, and digital wallets are integrated as part of Eluvio’s secure and eco-friendly blockchain.
