FOX COLLEGE SPORTS PRESENTS
THE 2009 MCLA LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
FCS’ expanded coverage of semifinals and finals air LIVE beginning May 15
New York & Los Angeles – Fresh off the success of the 2008 telecast, Fox College Sports presents LIVE coverage of the 2009 MCLA Lacrosse Championships. On Friday, May 15 FCS Atlantic kicks off the semifinal doubleheader LIVE at 7 PM ET.
In addition to airing the games live, FCS expands coverage on Saturday, May 16 to include the Division II championship game in addition to the Division I title game. The Division II match is slated for 6:00 PM ET with the Division I clash set for 9 PM ET.
“We are thrilled to show this year’s MCLA Championships live,” said VP of FCS Max Casanova. “2008 was our first year being involved with the MCLA and we couldn’t have been happier with the result. That success was the catalyst for us to go live and expand our coverage in 2009.”
The MCLA is a national organization of non-varsity, college lacrosse programs. The MCLA provides a governing structure much like the NCAA, with eligibility rules, national polls, All-Americans and a national tournament to decided national champions in both Division I and II. With 200 teams in two divisions and nine conferences, the MCLA represents the fastest growing segment of men’s college lacrosse.
"The MCLA features schools everyone is familiar with, playing high-level lacrosse. Both Division brackets feature the best teams in college club lacrosse, said MCLA Executive Producer Ethan Ritz. “Having the 2009 MCLA National Championships on Fox College Sports allows the MCLA to show the country what college club lacrosse is all about."
