FOX Orders All-New Single-Camera Comedy Starring Leary and Executive-Produced by Leary, Joel Church-Cooper and Jack Leary

Series Wholly Owned by FOX Entertainment to Debut in the 2024-2025 Season

FOX Entertainment has ordered the all-new comedy Going Dutch, starring Emmy Award nominee Denis Leary (The MoodysRescue Me), it was announced today by Michael Thorn, President of the FOX Television Network.  The single-camera comedy comes from FOX Entertainment Studios, writer/executive producer Joel Church-Cooper (Brockmire) and executive producers Denis Leary and Jack Leary (Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) through their production company Amoeba.

An outgrowth of Leary's broadcast direct deal with FOX Entertainment, Going Dutch centers on an arrogant loudmouth U.S. Army Colonel, who after an epically unfiltered rant, is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world. After serving with distinction in every warzone of the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, no weapons, and no tactical purpose. Instead, it has a Michelin-star level commissary, top notch bowling alley, and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Army. Surrounded by a diverse group of underdogs, the colonel tries to reinstall military discipline and professionalism with the help of the base's previous interim leader, who just happens to be his estranged daughter.  Additional casting is underway and will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We are thrilled to be back in business with Denis Leary. Going Dutch captures Denis’s comic genius and in-your-face storytelling style,” said Thorn. “Denis, Jack and our showrunner and creator Joel have brilliantly envisioned this original, offbeat take and inherently funny salute to the military workplace comedy. We also believe their show is the perfect comedy companion to our hit Animal Control.”

“I don’t think The Netherlands have ever seen such a collection of loud, selfish, screwed-up Americans,” said Denis Leary. “And it’s all FOX’s fault.”

“I was raised on the boundary-pushing FOX comedies of the 90’s, and I’m ecstatic to get the opportunity to continue the tradition for the next generation,” said Church-Cooper.

Going Dutch will be produced by FOX Entertainment Studios. Joel Church-Cooper will serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer on the series. Denis Leary and Jack Leary also will serve as executive producers. The series will be distributed by FOX Entertainment Global.

Going Dutch is FOX Entertainment Studios’ second wholly owned live-action comedy and joins Animal Control, starring Joel McHale and executive-produced by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg, Dan Sterling, Tad Quill and McHale. Recently concluding its second season and renewed for a third season, Animal Control launched as FOX’s most-streamed scripted debut ever.
